The Joy of Taking
the Long Way

Places worth going. Experiences worth having. Stories worth telling.

SEPTEMBER

September has me thinking about traveling a little slower.

There are trips where the destination is everything. And then there are the trips where you find yourself enjoying the getting there just as much.

Maybe it's a road that winds along the coast. A tiny village you hadn't planned to visit. A café you almost passed. Or a view that makes you say, “Wait… stop the car!”

Those are the moments I love most about travel. The unexpected ones.

September feels like a wonderful time to travel. Summer's frantic pace begins to ease, the light seems softer, and there's something about being somewhere beautiful without feeling like you have to rush through it.

I'm drawn to the Mediterranean this time of year—Italy, Greece, Croatia, Portugal. Places where you can linger over lunch, wander down a side street, sit by the water a little longer and let the day unfold.

Because maybe we don't need to see everything. Maybe we just need to experience something.

ONE TRIP I'M LOVING RIGHT NOW

The Rhine

If you've never taken a European river cruise, the Rhine is one I'd put on your travel wish list.

Rhine River castle and vineyard landscape
Castles, vineyards and the Rhine
Rhine River vineyards, castle and riverside town
Storybook towns along the river

Imagine waking up in one beautiful European town and going to sleep somewhere completely different—without packing and unpacking your suitcase every day.

Castles. Vineyards. Storybook villages. Historic cities. And all of it passing by your window.

That's one of the reasons I love river cruising. Your journey becomes part of the destination.

FROM MY TRAVELS

The photograph that takes you back

Every traveler has that one photograph that takes them right back to a moment. Maybe it isn't the most famous place you've visited. Maybe it isn't even the best photograph you've ever taken.

But you remember exactly how you felt when you took it.

That's what I love about travel. A photograph captures the place. The memory belongs to you.

MY FAVORITE TRAVEL ADVICE?

Leave some room for nothing.

I know. It sounds strange coming from someone who helps people plan vacations. But I really believe it.

Don't schedule every minute. Leave an afternoon open. Sleep late one morning. Take the scenic route. Sit somewhere beautiful and have another cup of coffee. Walk into the restaurant that wasn't on your list.

Because sometimes the best travel memories happen in the space between the plans.

Where Will You Go Next?

Maybe you're dreaming about Europe. Maybe it's a river cruise. Maybe it's a beach where your only responsibility is deciding whether to order another drink. Maybe you want an adventure. Or maybe you simply know that you're ready to go somewhere.

That's where I come in.

At Got It Good Travel, I don't believe travel should be one-size-fits-all. I want to help you find the destination, cruise, resort, tour or experience that fits the way you actually want to travel.

Because the goal isn't simply to take a trip. It's to get it good.
